At ATZWANGER we focus on energy efficient and sustainable solutions. Thanks to decades of experience in the field of energy technology, we have a wide range of products and services and are, of course, also active in the field of district heating. For more than 30 years, already!
Our aim is to bring hot water or heat from the production centre to the end user - without loss! Our services range from the design of the main and distribution pipes to the supply of the pipes, from the installation and laying to the commissioning and connection of buildings and households.
“ATZWANGER was one of the first companies in this sector,” explains Gian Luca Bellotti, head of the district heating department. “We have built numerous district heating networks, in South Tyrol, in Trentino, but also outside the region, for example in Turin and Parma. We are currently working in Fiera di Primiero, for Alperia in Bozen/Bolzano, Meran/Merano and Vöran/Verano and on projects in Vinschgau/Val Venosta, Vöran/Verano, Ritten/Renon and Welschnofen/Nova Levante.”
The main challenge in building these distribution structures is the quality of the work. “The laying and welding of the pipes, which can have a steel pipe diameter of between 25 and 700 mm, requires the utmost precision,” says the expert. “The pipes must be leakproof. And that is what we at ATZWANGER guarantee, also thanks to our decades of experience!”
A special feature of the district heating network is that, unlike gas, it always requires two pipes, a supply and a return. In addition, the pipes are fitted with alarm lines to detect any anomalies - the entry of moisture from outside and, of course, any loss of moisture. “Statistics show that we are among the best performing companies in Turin, which has the largest district heating network in Europe,” says Bellotti.
This high level of quality is also due to the way the department is organised: “There are three of us in the office,” he explains, “and we are responsible for every phase of the work: from project analysis to tender preparation, network installation and commissioning. This gives us a 360-degree view of the work”.
Another plus point: “Our site manager is always on site to monitor quality. He always works with an experienced team, supplemented by subcontractors selected according to the requirements,” continues Bellotti. “Excavation is not part of our work, as this is carried out by companies chosen by the client. We take care of all the mechanical installation up to the buildings, where we also install the utility substations”.
At ATZWANGER, our precise work ensures that the heat goes where it is needed.
